Being Human: The Forgotten Path to Exceptional Leadership

Keynote Drawn from the book With Jennifer Tankersley

In this keynote, Robin makes the case that the next evolution of leadership builds upon technical expertise, strategic thinking, and business acumen by cultivating the human capacities that expand how leaders perceive, interpret, and respond to complexity.

Drawing from Being Human and decades of work with senior leaders and executive teams, Robin reveals a simple but powerful truth: the state of the leader shapes the state of the system, influencing how people think, collaborate, adapt, and perform.

03What audiences walk away with

Six shifts leaders carry out of the room.

01

A new understanding of leadership capacity

Leaders begin to see how their physical, emotional, mental, relational, and meaning-based energy shapes how they show up, how others experience them, and how much impact they can sustain.

02

A framework for recognizing threat and returning to clarity

Audiences learn how pressure affects the nervous system, narrows thinking, and changes behavior — and how to interrupt those patterns in real time to return to presence, choice, and creative problem-solving.

03

A deeper understanding of Leadership Frequency

Robin introduces the idea that leaders are always transmitting something through their presence, energy, attention, and emotional state. Their “frequency” shapes trust, decision-making, team climate, and organizational coherence.

04

Tools for protecting attention and energy

In an age of distraction, AI, and constant demand, attention becomes one of the highest-leverage leadership resources. Leaders learn why protecting it is not a productivity tactic, but a leadership discipline.

05

A renewed connection to purpose and impact

Audiences leave with a clearer sense of why they lead, what their work is in service of, and what becomes possible when energy, purpose, and leadership behavior are aligned.

06

A more human and sustainable relationship with performance

The talk invites leaders to move beyond depletion, over-functioning, and endurance-based success toward a more integrated way of leading — rooted in clarity, vitality, trust, and full human intelligence.
